Somerton & District Bowls Club have joined the Nationwide ‘Let’s Roll’ marketing initiative being promoted by Bowls England.

The restrictions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic have left many people socially isolated, deprived of sporting activity and with limited opportunities to find activities in which the whole family can participate. Much of the population have a wrong stereotyped image of Lawn Bowls as being a last-ditch sport for old people dressed in white. The best way to redress this view and to promote the Sport is to get people onto the green and let them see for themselves and experience the dynamics of the Club.

Over the coming weeks, Bowls England will be supplying participating clubs with free digital resources that they, and their members, can share across their networks and there will be nationally managed social media advertising to raise awareness further.

Chief Executive Jon Cockcroft said: “In partnership with the Bowls Development Alliance, we are excited to roll out this marketing initiative to encourage new people into our sport. There are many success stories of clubs engaging new players in these unprecedented times and this campaign will support our bowls community to stimulate this interest”.
